Summary:

This is probably one of the most accessible of Nietzsche’s works. It had been published in 1887, a season after Beyond Good and Bad, and he meant it to be always a continuation of the investigation in to the theme of morality. In the 1st function, Nietzsche attacked the idea of morality as only institutionalised weakness, and he criticised recent philosophers because of their unquestioning approval of moral precepts. In Over the Genealogy of Morals, subtitled ‘A Polemic’, Nietzsche furthers his pursuit of a clarity that’s less tainted by imposed prejudices. He talks about the way attitudes towards ‘morality’ developed and just how congenital ideas of morality were heavily coloured with the Judaic and Christian customs.
