Summary:
The novel that inspired Pirates from the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
On Stranger Tides is Tim Power’ great Disneyland trip through pirates, puppeteers, treasure, and thrill-a-minute action that carries on from the start. It follows the exploits of John “Jack Shandy” Chandagnac, who travels to the brand new world after the loss of life of his puppeteer father to confront his uncle, that has evidently made off using the family members fortune. During the voyage, he befriends Beth Hurwood and her dad Benjamin Hurwood, an Oxford professor. Before they reach their destination, their dispatch is certainly waylaid by Blackbeard and his music group of pirates. With the help of the teacher and his assistant, the captain can be killed and Chandagnac is usually pressed into piracy and sorcery as Blackbeard looks for the Fountain of Lost Youth. Chandagnac, recently dubbed “Jack port Shandy,” must quit the evil plot and save Beth.
