Supernatural brief story written specifically for the young Anne (Nannie) Wynne. It had been originally released as The Ghost’s Contact in The Irish Fireside, 30 Sept – 14 October 1885; Harper’s Regular, 23 Oct 1885; and in The Ghost’s Touch and Other Tales (with My Lady’s Cash and Percy as well as the Prophet, Harper’s Useful Series, no 30, 1885).

Mr Rayburn, a widower, and his youthful daughter, Lucy, meet Mrs Zant in Kensington Landscapes while she is experiencing a eyesight of her dead husband. The ghost warns her against his sibling, who aims to pressure her into an unlawful marriage. Rayburn rescues Mrs Zant, wishing to marry her himself, while the supernatural force returns to hit her brother-in-law with fatal paralysis.
