Summary:
This beautifully conceived meditation on prayers and praying from beloved author and theologian C. S. Lewis was the ultimate book he published.
By means of warm, calm letters to a close friend, C. S. Lewis meditates on many puzzling questions concerning the close dialogue between man and God. He considers useful and metaphysical areas of prayer, such as when we pray and where. He questions why we look for to see God inside our prayers if he is omniscient, whether there can be an ideal type of prayer, and which of our many selves we display to God while praying. The concluding notice contains provocative thoughts about “liberal Christians,” the soul, and resurrection.
Lewis never intended for this reserve to instruct visitors how exactly to pray but rather wanted it to illuminate the goal of prayer and what really happens when we take the time to talk to our Heavenly Father.
